Water Supply and Waste Water Development Project in Ajara

"We have been implementing a very important project together with our international partners. The large-scale project aims at establishment of the modern water supply and waste water systems in the semi-urban and rural areas of the Ajara region. We are striving to create the conditions for healthy life for every citizen of Ajara where the inhabitants will have the possibility to benefit from sustainable water supply service and this will finally solve the problem existed for years. The project is being intensively worked on and has a very social as well as economic importance. Water supply project will encourage the economic and the tourism development in the Semi-urban areas and villages in the region”-says Jaba Putkaradze.

The goal of the project is to establish modern water supply and waste water treatment systems in all municipalities in Ajara.

At this stage, rehabilitation works have already been planned for the current year for several villages, in particular: Dioknisi in Kulo, Tibeta in Keda and Mukhaestate in Kobuleti.

Preparation of the design documentation will be followed by the announcement of the tender for the construction works.

The budget of the Water supply system development in Ajara is 59,5 mln euros. The project is being implemented in the frame of the German-Georgian cooperation and KfW development bank.
